Tips

Get the most from timesheets

A few ways to streamline your payroll workflow.

Approve weekly
Set a regular day each week to review and approve timesheets. This keeps payroll on track and avoids a last-minute rush at the end of the pay period.
Check for anomalies
Each entry lays out clock-in, clock-out, and break times next to the total hours, so unusually long shifts or missed clock-outs are easy to spot and follow up on before you approve.
Use the cost summary
The timesheet overview shows total labour cost per location. Compare it to your budget to spot overruns before they hit payroll.
Filter by location
If you manage multiple sites, filter timesheets by location so each manager can review and approve their own team independently.
Push to your accounting tool
Connect your Xero or QuickBooks account, then push approved timesheets across with a click — no CSV needed. MYOB is supported via a formatted CSV export.
Add notes to edits
If you need to adjust an entry, always add a note explaining the change. This creates an audit trail and keeps staff in the loop.
FAQ

Common questions

How are timesheets generated?+
Timesheets are automatically created from clock-in/out records. Managers can review, edit, and approve before exporting to payroll.
Can I export timesheets to MYOB or Xero?+
Yes. You can download a CSV or a Xero/MYOB-formatted file, and if you connect your Xero or QuickBooks account you can push approved timesheets straight across with a click.
How are hours and wages worked out?+
Shiftbreeze totals each shift's hours and breaks from clock-in/out data and shows an estimated wage using the staff member's pay rate. You can edit any entry before approving, and totals carry through to your export.
