How to

Clocking in and out of a shift

Here's how staff use the clock feature from start to finish.

1

Open the clock screen

Staff open the Shiftbreeze app on their own phone, or tap their name on the shared kiosk tablet at the venue. The clock screen shows the current time and their location, ready to start the shift.

On the kiosk, tap your name and enter a PIN

Set up a shared tablet at the venue as a clock-in kiosk. Staff tap their name and enter their PIN — the kiosk already knows the venue, so there's no location to pick. Handy when not everyone has the app installed.

Tips

Get the most from clock in / out

A few ways to keep time tracking accurate and hassle-free.

Use kiosk mode
Set up a shared tablet at each venue as a clock-in kiosk. Staff tap their name and enter a PIN — no need for everyone to have the app installed.
Turn on location stamping
GPS stamping is off by default. If you want it, switch on location capture in settings and every clock-in records the staff member’s position so you can review it against the venue.
Track breaks as you go
Staff start and stop their own breaks during a shift with a tap. Break durations flow straight into the timesheet, so the recorded hours stay accurate.
Rely on the auto clock-out safeguard
If someone forgets to clock out, the auto clock-out safeguard closes the entry so you’re not left with a runaway shift to untangle later.
Monitor live attendance
Managers can see who is currently clocked in across all locations from the dashboard. Spot no-shows early and arrange cover quickly.
FAQ

Common questions

Does Shiftbreeze record GPS location?+
Only if you turn it on. Location capture is off by default, but you can enable it in settings so every clock-in is stamped with the staff member’s GPS position. Managers can then review where clock-ins happened.
Can staff clock in without their own phone?+
Yes. You can set up a shared tablet as a kiosk at your venue. Staff tap their name and enter a PIN to clock in — the kiosk already knows the venue, so there’s no location to choose.
What happens if someone forgets to clock out?+
An auto clock-out safeguard closes the open entry. Managers can also adjust the clock-out time from the timesheets page if needed.
