What Shiftbreeze does for NZ teams

The features below support Holidays Act compliance and NZ record keeping. Your payroll software stays in charge of the final pay run.

NZ staff records, properly validated

Staff profiles capture the IRD number (checked against the IR checksum, so typos are caught at entry), KiwiSaver provider and contribution rate, IR330 tax codes and the NZ bank account format. Digital onboarding collects it all from the staff member before their first shift.

Public holidays done the NZ way

Every national day is built in, Matariki included, plus regional anniversary days scoped per venue so your Auckland site and your Christchurch site each get the right day. Mondayisation is handled properly: staff who worked the actual weekend date keep that day, everyone else gets the Monday, and nobody gets both.

Break guidelines at roster time

As you build a shift, Shiftbreeze shows the rest and meal breaks the shift length calls for, with rest breaks treated as paid and the meal break as unpaid. It is guidance shown where you need it, while you roster, and it never blocks a save.

Wage and time records (NZ) export

A dedicated Wage and time records (NZ) CSV export, one line per pay category with subtotals per person and public holidays marked, built to support the six-year record-keeping duty under the Employment Relations Act 2000 and Holidays Act 2003.

GPS clock-in and tablet kiosk

Staff clock in from their phone with GPS capture, or from a shared tablet kiosk at the venue with a PIN. Timesheets show where each punch happened, so approvals take seconds.

Honest payroll hand-off

Approved hours export as CSV files built for payroll hand-off. A direct push into Xero Payroll NZ is not available yet, so Shiftbreeze pairs with the payroll software you already run rather than pretending to replace it.

FAQ

New Zealand questions

How does Shiftbreeze handle Mondayisation?+
When a national public holiday falls on a weekend, New Zealand observes it on the following Monday for people who would not otherwise work that weekend day. Shiftbreeze applies the holiday to the actual day for staff who worked the weekend date, and to the Mondayised day for everyone else, so nobody is treated as having two holidays for one date.
Are regional anniversary days included?+
Yes. Add your region's anniversary day (Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and the rest) from a quick-add list, and scope each day to the venues it applies to. A business with sites in more than one region gets the right anniversary day at each venue, not a blanket holiday across the whole company.
How do timesheets get into my payroll software?+
Approved timesheets export as CSV files built for hand-off to your payroll software, including a Wage and time records (NZ) export that supports the six-year record-keeping requirement. A direct push into Xero Payroll NZ is not available yet, so Shiftbreeze pairs with the payroll software you already run.
What currency is Shiftbreeze billed in?+
Billing is currently in Australian dollars: $5 AUD per active staff member per month, after a 7-day free trial. There is no base fee and no lock-in contract, and you can cancel at any time.
Does Shiftbreeze make me Holidays Act compliant?+
Shiftbreeze supports Holidays Act compliance: national public holidays including Matariki, Mondayisation handled per staff member, venue-scoped anniversary days, break guidelines at roster time, and a wage and time records export for the six-year record-keeping duty. Final holiday pay calculations remain the job of your payroll software.
